... How To: Make The Most Of Your Summer Holidays ...
Since I acquired my first payed job, this time of the year I
travel to celebrate the miracle of my birth. Purely to beat the depression that
comes with birthdays and the vast realization that, surprise – surprise I am
getting older.
Over the years I have had successful and not very successful
holidays. Things went well and didn’t and with time I gained experience on how
to make the most out of my time away from home. After all it is your annual leave
and you want to spend it having the best time you can possibly have. Right?
So here are some tips from yours truly that hopefully will
help you achieve exactly that and give you some inspiration to plan your next
summer getaway.
City or Island
First of all, lets get something straight, you don’t have to
hop on a plane to have a good time. You can have an amazing time in your city
or village and save a few bucks as well. I personally can say with safety that
I have not experienced my city to the fullest and a week of vacation in London
would definitely be something that I would enjoy! Summer is the time where
normally the city is empty, and the best events and parties are happening so do
your research and get going.
Travel buddies
Choose your travel mates. Whether you want a girls-only
holiday, couples getaway or a romantic week with your better half make sure
that your expectations are matching your choice of travel buddies. Also make
sure to plan your holiday essentials. Are you going camping or staying in a
hotel? Renting a car or taking the bus? What’s the weather like? Finally do
your research on what you should not miss and find some typical things that you
can do whilst there.
Listen to your body
Ok so you have finally arrived at your destination. You got
it all planned perfectly but once you get there you feel drained. It is
something that happens. This is the time for you to relax and enjoy your free
time away from work and if you need a day or two to sleep in and be lazy, so be
it! You deserve it and you will feel better once you’ve done it.
Try something new
If you always wanted to go snorkelling why not give it a try
now? Chances are that you are going to love it and even if you don’t that’s
something you can cross of your bucket list. Go trekking if there is a mountain
nearby. That way you keep yourself active and get a full-on experience of the
place you are visiting. Plus, you get to have an amazing view when you reach
the top!
Don’t stress it out
You may have done your plans and have everything written
down and scheduled, but most likely things aren’t going to go your way all the
time. So what if it rains one day? You can still go swimming! The sea feels
warmer and the rainy sea is breathtaking! So what if you get a parking ticket
even! You get to travel on the other side of the island to pay it and find
yourself in the most amazing car ride of your life with landscapes that you
have never even imagined they existed in real life.
(true story)
Just take things as they come and remember that everything
is a matter of perspective.
Remember that no matter what you do it is always up to you
to have a good time! Go out and enjoy the sun, soak up the Vitamin D and live
the life that makes you happy! Happy holidays!
Thanks for being here!
See you soon!
